The GOOD Yogi

by Arin Takeuchi |

"You don't have to be flexible to do yoga, you just have to be willing to shake off the dust and see what happens."

---David Good---

We first met David Good at the Yoga Conference & Show 2014. Its been nearly two years now since the day he came standing tall, with his infectious smile, to our booth and got his hands (and feet) on his first B MAT. As exciting as it has been growing as a company, it is equally as exciting to watch the growth of our B Yogis and B Ambassadors along the way. What we love about David is his innate nature to include and encompass EVERY-yogi in his classes and workshops. From beginner to enthusiast, all David asks is that you meet yourself on the mat. This year David will be leading three workshops at the Toronto Yoga Conference & Show 2016. We spent an afternoon in a sun-filled Octopus Garden Holistic Yoga studio in Toronto, Ontario to flow and talk with David about his workshops and what makes him so passionate about each. pyramid(small)

Flow Into Meditation

THURSDAY, MARCH 31
6:30 PM - 8:30 PM (2 HRS) All Levels, Teacher Training, Therapeutic
Workshop Code: TH6GOO
The initial intention of asana was to prepare us to sit. In this fun class you will learn poses and sequences that will prepare you and your students to sit and to be open to this experience. Once you sit, you can focus on your breath and we will explore what comes up next. Perfect for any level, this class will focus on the hips, knees, lower back, shoulders, thereby making longer sits possible. The class will end with a few different meditation techniques and a guided meditation. WHY YOU NEED TO TAKE THIS WORKSHOP:

David: The practice of meditation has been one of my biggest challenges and also the most rewarding. I am a very active person and sitting still drove me nuts. I found after a flowing practice my body was ready to sit still and explore. My teacher told me that, you need to look at the things that are a challenge and push your edge. I am excited to share my practice and see what you think.

Prehab Yoga and Injury Prevention

SATURDAY, APRIL 2
10:30 AM - 12:30 PM (2 HRS) All Levels, Teacher Training, Therapeutic
Workshop Code: SA2GOO
Are you using your muscles or are they using you? Join David Good, Yoga Teacher and Tara Cameron, Physiotherapist, as they help you discover if you are using the right muscles and body mechanics throughout your yoga practice. Due to the body position of most sedentary day jobs, there is a lot of muscle confusion out there! Even with the right looking movements and a regular yoga practice we can still end up with sore wrists, low back pain and shoulder problems. Tara and David will share the four most common underused foundational muscles and then provide you with the tools to train your brain, and create patterns that allow you to practice in a way that serves you best. WHY YOU NEED TO TAKE THIS WORKSHOP:

David: This workshop came about after long talks with student and friend Tara Cameron. We started talking about Chaturanga and how students were using the wrong muscles to get in and out of this transitional pose. We talked for hours and hours then over time thought we need to do a workshop about this. Our bodies are challenged from life and soon forget what muscles to fire. But all is not lost, we can relearn and recreate healthy patterning. We are both so excited to share what we've learned along the way.
